David E Vernon established the company during 1964. A violin shop in Manchester first buying and selling violins, violas, cellos and bows in the City centre trading from premises on Brazennose Street. David relocated the violin shop for a short time on the upper floor of Kendals on Deansgate before moving to its current position close to the centre of Manchester on Chester Road. We are positioned only a short distance from the Bridgewater Hall, the RNCM, Chethams and the Media City.

The company’s reputation as dealers, makers and restorers of fine Violins, Viola, Cellos, Double Basses and Bows quickly grew establishing and continuing to build contacts with Chethams School of Music, The Royal Northern College of Music, The Halle Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The Manchester Camerata and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra along with the North Wests numerous  amateur and semi-professional ensembles. In 2014 with Paul Parsons as proprietor, D E Vernon Violins will celebrate 50 unbroken years of trading continuing the firm’s reputation as the most established specialist and a leading violin company in the North West.
